Keep LCD TVs Clean
Saturday, April 2nd, 2011
The technologies involved in televisions have come a long, long way. The very first televisions were black and white models that used cathode ray tubes to project a picture onto a screen. Over the decades the screens got better, as did the picture quality, and black and white was replaced by RGB color technology. However, little else changed until the end of the twentieth century when flat screen and high definition technology were developed.
The ability to create pictures using liquid crystal displays led to lcd computer monitors as well as the now common lcd tv . Plasma technology has also developed to allow digital pictures to be created on larger and larger flat screens. Because this technology is computerized and digital, it is extremely important that LCD TV owners keep their televisions clean.
A check of the owner’s manual will provide instructions on the type of cloth and cleaning agents that can be used to clean both the screen and the rest of the television. Usually a soft, lint free cloth can be used to wipe dust and dirt from the screen. Some specially designed cleaners are safe to use on LCD screens, but the ingredients should be checked against the manual. Compressed or canned air can be used to clean the connections and other exposed areas of the television. The priorities are preventing dust from building up inside the TV or on the screen and ensuring that the screen is not scratched or exposed to damaging chemicals.
